Simply stated, a keratin treatment is an antifrizz, non chemical hair straightening process that will not change the hair shape but make the hair smooth and shiny.

However, in order to understand what Keratin treatment is or how it works, you first need to know what Keratin is. Keratin is fibrosis protein which forms the main structural  of hair, skin and nails.

The Hair shaft mostly made of 3 layers. The inner layer (medulla) is only present in large thick hair. The middle layer (Cortex) who hold pigments is found in the skin. The outermost layer of hair is Cuticle, which has the shape of fish scales, which is formed from dead cells, overlapping in layers which strengthen and protect the hair shaft.

When hair gets dry or damaged (usually caused by chemical, sun, heat, etc..) it’s not smooth and gets tangled and is hard to brush. That happens because Cuticles are left open from the damage so they get tangled with each other and will eventually cause breakage and split ends.
